The Rabat Laughter Festival “Aji Thdm” will be back from March 30 to April 2, for its 6th edition which is to take place at the National Theater Mohammed V in Rabat, and which offers a fine line-up of Moroccan and sub-Saharan comedians to animate the Ramadan evenings of the Rbatis.
For this sixth edition organized under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, as part of the festivities of Rabat African Capital of Culture, the “Aji Thdm” Laughter Festival will be provided by “Les Inqualifiables” (Amine and Oubeid), with a rich program of new shows hosted by Oualas, Oussama Ramzi, Ramatoulay, Le Magnific, Haytam Miftah, Zouhair Zair, Driss and Mehdi, Nhidal Saadi, Valery Ndongo and Chihab Elmehdi.
The Festival therefore returns after 3 years of absence due to the pandemic crisis, and this year represents, for these comedians, a resumption of contact with the public, specified “Les Inqualifiables” during the press conference held this Thursday 23 March in Rabat.
In addition, many novelties will be on the agenda during this edition, in particular the participation of a group of sub-Saharan actors, an opportunity that did not arise during previous editions, they indicated.
Oubeid Allah Hlal of the Inqualifiables, indicated that ” today, the particularity is the return to the stage of the festival for the general public Rbati“, emphasizing that Rabat is their hometown and that is why they chose to organize this cultural high mass there.
” We have always dreamed of Rabat having its own festival. It is a childhood dream that today takes place thanks to a lot of effort, a lot of work but also thanks to the Moroccan public who have always been there to support Les Inqualifiables“, he confided to us.
“Aji Thdm” was not a festival before but a show and ” people came to follow and support Les Inqualifiables. We thought today of expanding and attracting other artists who, for them, can also be an opportunity to come and perform.“.
And to add: The festival falls within the framework of Rabat African Capital of Culture under the high patronage of His Majesty, so for us too it is a great boost so that we can possibly make it grow even more“, with the aim of “ get the Moroccan public out of their homes to come and experience live, laughter, emotion and exchange“.
For his partner, Amine Belghazi, the particularity of this edition is the openness to Africa. ” Generally, in previous editions, we only had local artists. The invitation was mainly to the Moroccan humorist, and this year we thought why not develop the concept and the image of the festival a little“, adding that ” that’s why we had the support of His Majesty also within the framework of Rabat African Capital of Culture“.
He explains, in a statement to MoroccoLatestNews, that this is in particular a responsibility. ” We are aware of this, but we also hope for a huge presence of the Moroccan public and this is always the case during Ramadan.“.
” We’re proud, we’re delighted, it’s a childhood dream and I hope it will grow from year to year“, he concluded.
Thus, the Rbatis will have an appointment with an opening show hosted by “Les Inqualifiables” on March 30, the show by Zouhair Zair, the first of its kind on the stage of the National Theater Mohammed V, on March 31, the gala ” Subsahararire” on April 1, and a Moroccan gala “Aji Thdm” on April 2.
