The Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts (DEPF) under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, indicated that the telecommunications sector showed a favorable evolution at the end of the first nine months of 2022.
In its economic report for the month of November 2022, the DEPF specifies that the overall telephony base reached more than 57 million subscribers, up 5.1%, after +4.6% at the end of June 2022 and +8.1% at the end of September 2021.
This increase, explains the DEPF, is attributable to the increase in the mobile telephony base by 5% (after +4.5% and +8.2% respectively), to 54.6 million subscribers, combined with the strengthening that of fixed telephony by 5.3%, to nearly 2.6 million subscribers.
For its part, the Internet base reached 36.6 million subscribers at the end of September 2022, recording a performance of +8%, after +6.8% at the end of June 2022 and +17.8% one year. earlier, the note states.
This acceleration of the increase compared to the growth at the end of June 2022, would have benefited in part from the good dynamics of the activity of the sector in the third quarter of 2022, in line with the strengthening of the consolidated turnover of the Maroc Telecom group by 2 .6% for this quarter, benefiting from the combined effect of a good summer season and the continued growth of fixed data in Morocco as well as the strengthening of the activities of subsidiaries abroad.
