The monitoring of agricultural markets by the services of the Department of Agriculture shows the following main trends depending on the product. With regard to cereals and sugar, thanks to the refund mechanisms put in place by the government, the prices of soft wheat flour have not undergone any change, despite the dizzying increases on the world market, thanks to the refund system import set up by the government. For sugar, the price remains fixed and unchanged thanks also to state support, the statement said, noting that for edible oils, prices remain at the levels recorded since 2021.
The main most consumed market gardening products show a very satisfactory and sufficient level of availability both in quantity and quality thanks in particular to the entry into production of seasonal market gardening, the press release points out. Thus, tomato prices have been on a downward trend since the beginning of April, stabilizing on average between 3.8 and 4.5 DH/Kg at the retail stage currently.
Potato prices, meanwhile, show a significant drop compared to 2020/2021 of around 18% on the wholesale markets on the same date. The current average wholesale price remains around 2.6 DH/Kg and the average retail price of 4 DH/kg.
For the onion, it’s the season for fresh onions which are currently readily available with an average price of 1.7 DH/Kg on the wholesale market, a drop of 11% compared to the previous campaign on the same date. The retail price fluctuates between 2.8 and 4 DH/Kg”, notes the press release.
