On the evening of Tuesday, February 1, Morocco was shaken by the tragedy experienced by the rural commune of Tamrout, near Bab Berred in Chefchaouen. A young child of 5 years old, named Ryan, found himself stuck for more than 44 hours at the bottom of a well 32 meters deep.
At the time of writing, Ryan is still alive, stuck for two days at the bottom of the 32 meter deep shaft. Despite numerous rescue attempts by local authorities and the Chefchaouen Rescue Association, Ryan has still not been rescued.
” I was able to go down to 25 meters, but I couldn’t continue. I couldn’t breathe anymore. As for little Ryan, I tried to talk to him to get his reaction, but I only heard his breathing and his cries of distress, as if he was suffering from an injury. He was 10-12 meters from me, but the space was very tight. I tried to dig with my feet to reach it, but to no avail. At one point I couldn’t go any further“, confided to MoroccoLatestNews, Imad Fahmi, a member of the rescue team.
While the whole of Morocco is mistaken for little Ryan, the authorities and the rescue teams do not let go and continue to dig, slowly, to get to little Ryan. An operation that is not at all easy, since at the slightest wrong move, the well risks collapsing on little Ryan, who has shown unprecedented courage. Thanks to a camera, the authorities manage to check Ryan’s condition on a daily basis, and check if he is still alive.
In addition, and according to our correspondent on site, the authorities emptied the surface surrounding the well, to avoid the risk of a collapse. The inhabitants of the town, they did not sleep a wink and assisted the authorities in all the initiatives.
