Seven people, including six children, were injured in a stabbing attack this Thursday, June 8, in the city of Annecy in France, according to security sources cited by Agence France Presse (AFP).
A security official, who wished to remain anonymous, as well as a local authority, reported that a man armed with a knife attacked a group of children aged around 3 years old.
French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced in a tweet that the perpetrator of the attack had been ” arrested thanks to the rapid intervention of the security forces“.

In addition, the knife attacker reportedly told authorities that he was a ” Syrian asylum seeker“, according to a security source who preferred to remain anonymous.
Authorities are investigating the identity of the attacker, which has not yet been confirmed, the same source added, adding that the attacker had a criminal history.
