The day after the announcement of the first death in the country of a person infected with the virus, the Spanish Ministry of Health reports that a second person has died. This death is the second in Europe and the third outside Africa.
In its latest report published on Saturday, the Ministry’s Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies noted that “among the 3,750 patients (…) 120 cases were hospitalized and two died”. However, he did not specify the date of this second death.
It should be noted that the Spanish Ministry of Health announced on Friday July 29 the death of a person suffering from monkeypox. This death was considered the first death ever recorded in Europe of a patient infected with this disease.
A 41-year-old man with monkeypox also died in Brazil, the first death from the disease outside Africa and sixth overall. This man “was followed in the hospital for other serious clinical conditions”, it was pointed out.
As a reminder, Spain is one of the countries with the most cases in the world, with 4,298 people infected with this virus.
