Moroccan athlete Soukaina Zakour won the women’s hammer throw of the Tour Bronze Dakar 2022 Athletics meeting on Saturday, organized in the annex of the Abdoulaye Wade stadium, in Diamniadio, about thirty kilometers from Dakar.
Thus, the gold medal went to Zakour who managed a throw of 58m47. She is followed by Queen Fumilayo Obisesean who made a throw of 56m43 while the third place is occupied by the Senegalese Fatou Diocou (52m26).
On the same day on Saturday, the Moroccan athlete Mustapha Akkaoui won the 5000m race.
Akkaoui covered this distance in 15m 02sec 90, followed by the Gambian Echen Obega (15m 38 sec 38). Third place was won by Ivorian Nahoua Coulibaly (15m 42sec 19).
In the women’s 800m event, her compatriot Lamyae Humi snatched first place on the podium with a time of 02m 08sec 90.
Second place went to Senegalese athlete Madjiguene Mbaye while Ivorian Djafoulmon Diabate came in third.
Several national and foreign athletes take part in this competition which returns after seven years of absence to give them more visibility.
To succeed in the bet of the organization, the Senegalese Athletics Federation says it is betting on a budget of 200 million FCFA. The organizing committee says it has benefited from the support of the State of Senegal through the Ministry of Sports.
