Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat is under fire from Catalan media for his recent comments regarding his interest in signing with Manchester United.
Spanish daily “Sport” published a report deeming Amrabat’s statements to be a significant shift in his preferences, as he had previously expressed a strong desire to play for Barcelona.
“I knew for a long time that United were interested. For me, it was clear that the only place I wanted to play was here. I had to be very patient,” Amrabat stated, reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Amrabat’s remarks were deemed “contemptuous” towards Barcelona, with Sport noting his earlier signals of eagerness to join Barcelona under Xavi Hernandez’s leadership, even being prepared to forgo his full salary for the move.
