Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan hailed, on Monday in Rabat, Morocco’s “serious and credible” efforts within the framework of the autonomy plan for the resolution of the conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.
During a joint press briefing with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita at the end of their talks, the head of Singaporean diplomacy hailed the “serious” efforts and credible” deployed by Morocco, within the framework of its autonomy plan, for the resolution of the conflict around the Moroccan Sahara and the guarantee of peace and security in the region.
“We adhere to the principles of the United Nations and UN resolutions” concerning the Moroccan Sahara file, in particular resolution 2602, he said, welcoming, in this context, the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for the Moroccan Sahara, Staffan de Mistura.
In this sense, the Singaporean minister called on all the parties concerned to work for the maintenance of peace, in full transparency in order to put an end to this conflict which has lasted too long.
