Sheikh Zayed Book Prize: a Moroccan book in the running

The Sheikh Zayed Book Prize, which is in its 15th edition, unveiled on Tuesday the short list of nominated titles in the “Literature for children and adolescents” category which includes a novel by the Moroccan writer, Rajaa Mallah.

The list includes three works, including “Emerald Garden” by Moroccan Rajaa Mallah, “An Artist’s Journey” by Tunisian novelist Mizouni Bennani and “La goule et la Framboise” by Emirati writer Nassiba El-Azibi, says a press release from the Management.

In the “Literature” category, three works are in the running, namely “Aimer la vie”, by the Lebanese writer Alawiya Soubh, “The Passenger Room” by the Egyptian Izzat Al-Qamhawi and “Sur les traces d ‘ Enayat Al-Zayat ”by Egyptian writer Iman Merssal, details the same source.

Concerning the “Young author” category, the titles selected are “Laylat Yalda” by the Egyptian Ghada El-Abssi, “What she left behind” by the Palestinian writer Chada Mustapha and “The problems of the self who tells in the Saudi Feminist Novel – A Critical Study / 1999-2012 ”by Saudi researcher Asmaa Awad Al-Ahmadi.

The Prize includes nine categories: “Literature”, “Translation”, “Arts and Critical Studies”, “Development and State Building”, “Literature for Children and Youth”, “Arab Culture in Other Languages”, ” Young Author ”,“ Publishing and Cultural Technologies ”and“ Cultural Personality of the Year ”.

In the “Cultural Personality of the Year” category, the winner receives a prize of $ 270,000, while in the other categories, the prize rises to nearly $ 204,000.
