The global engineering group, Segula Technologies, inaugurated, on Wednesday in Casablanca, its “Africa Innovation Hub”, the African branch of its industrial innovation project accelerator, mainly dedicated to supporting the industrialization of the continent.
This new hub, inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, aims to meet the growing needs of the industrial market at continental level, but also to offer an engineering platform to all of the Group’s activities in order to strengthen its competitiveness.
It is, according to the Department of Industry, an accelerator of industrial innovation projects intended for start-ups active in mobility, the environment, energy, medtech, the industry of the future or new materials, and this through a set of tailor-made support services, from the development of the idea to its implementation on the industrial market.
On this occasion, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, welcomed the achievements of the national industrialization process, the advances in Morocco’s industrial and technological transformation, and the national skills working in the industrial field.
“Today, the industrial dynamics that our country is experiencing requires rigorous technical and scientific support in order to further stimulate innovation and R&D in this sector. It is a major lever for the creation of added value, the development of local integration, the consolidation of the competitiveness of the productive sector and the improvement of the technological level of Morocco”he said.
And to specify that “The commitment of a leading group like Segula in the engineering sector is essential and is in line with our quest to position Morocco as a center of excellence in industrial innovation in Africa. It will also make it possible to support the industrialization of the continent and will strongly contribute to the development of skills and the development of research projects for innovative and technologically demanding cutting-edge activities”.
For his part, the Director of Strategy and Innovation of the Segula Technologies Group, Adrien Guillemin, affirmed that “The choice of Morocco was a natural choice to position the group on the formidable innovation dynamic of the African continent”.
“The Kingdom’s industrial ecosystem development strategy is extremely effective and has enabled the emergence of a pool of very high-level scientific and technical skills”he added.
On the sidelines of this inauguration ceremony, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Segula Technologies and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the industrial field.
Initialed by Ryad Mezzour and Adrien Guillemin, this MoU aims to bring together project leaders, research centers and support from public authorities, in order to support industrialization objectives.
