Saudi Arabia, reaffirmed, Thursday in Rabat, on the occasion of the Moroccan-Saudi Joint Commission, its unchanged support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara and praised Morocco for its efforts aimed at putting an end to the regional dispute as well as to the stabilization of the Sahel region.
The Foreign Ministers of Morocco and Saudi Arabia gathered in Rabat for the 13th Moroccan-Saudi Joint Commission welcomed the distinguished level of bilateral cooperation, thanks to the high concern of the two heads of state, King Mohammed VI and King Salman Ben
On this occasion, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara and for Morocco’s efforts to reach a realistic political solution based on compromise and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council, under the supervision of the Secretary General of the UN, said the minutes at the end of the joint Moroccan-Saudi commission.
The head of Moroccan diplomacy, Nasser Bourita, declared that this 13th meeting of the Mixed Commission also coincided with the commemoration of the 66th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
It is a favorable occasion to express our happiness and our pleasure, while we find our dear brothers and sisters, to see that our strong and solid relations between our two countries, are nourished by them the wise direction of the Sovereigns of our two countries. , King Mohammed VI, and his brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Prince Mohamed bin Salman”.
Nasser Bourita said he was “proud” that relations between the two Kingdoms have reached such a high level, based on ties between the two royal families, but also ties in brotherhood and friendship, which are reflected in the continued solidarity and fruitful cooperation at all levels.
On the subject of the reaffirmation of Saudi Arabia’s support for the territorial integrity of Morocco and its sovereignty over its Sahara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the position of Riyadh which has been expressed on several occasions and in several circumstances.
He expressed “the absolute support of the Kingdom of Morocco to its brother Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in everything that preserves its unity, security and stability”, recalling that it is about this active solidarity between the two countries, which represents one of the fundamental and solid pillars that make up their bilateral relations.
In this sense, the Moroccan-Saudi joint commission which met in Rabat, called for more efforts to support stability, promote sustainable development and combat extremism, terrorism and separatist movements in the Sahel region, indicated the minutes at the end of the meeting between the two delegations.
Saudi Arabia, on the occasion, expressed its appreciation of Morocco’s three-dimensional approach to the Sahel region, which emphasizes security, development and training to control upstream and downstream all threats extremists.
The committee reiterated its condemnation of extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, whatever the justifications and motives, and stressed the need for continued coordination between the two countries in the fight against terrorism in international multilateral level, in particular at the level of the United Nations, the International Forum for the Fight against Extremism and the Global Coalition against the Islamic State.
