Sales of new cars in Morocco amounted to 143,967 units for the first ten months of this year, up 10.16% compared to the end of October 2019, according to monthly statistics from the Association of Importers of motor vehicles in Morocco (AIVAM).

By segment, the number of new registrations of passenger vehicles (PCs) stood at 126,189 units, up 8.58%, while that of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) stood at 17,778 units (+22 , 86%), specifies the same source.

The “Dacia” brand still occupies the first step of the passenger car podium, with a market share of 28.31%, or 35,730 new registrations since the start of the year (+ 2.6%), followed by Renault, which has sold 16,637 new units (13.18% market share), Hyundai (10,446 units and 8.28% market share) and Peugeot (9,013 vehicles and 7.14% market share).

In light commercial vehicles (LCVs), the Dongfeng Sokon (DFSK) brand increased its sales by 161.28% to 3,556 units, while Renault and Dacia recorded, respectively, 2,540 and 1,824 new registrations. The Indian brand Mahindra, for its part, boosted its sales by 500% to 108 units.

Regarding sales of “premium” cars, Audi sold 3,108 units at the end of October 2021, i.e. a market share of 2.46%, ahead of BMW (2,715 vehicles and share of 2.15%) and Mercedes (2,061 units and share of 1.63%).

In addition, AIVAM reports that sales of the German brand Porsche climbed 90.4% to 238 vehicles, while those of Jaguar fell 50.61% to 122 units.

In October alone, the number of new registrations stood at 12,330 units, down 10.7% compared to the same month in 2019. The breakdown by segment shows a decrease in passenger cars from 10.7% to 10,578 units and LCVs of 11.34% to 1,752 units.
