Sales down 8.56% at the end of April

Sales of new cars in Morocco stood at 53,912 units at the end of April 2022, down 8.56% compared to the same period in 2021, according to monthly statistics from the Association of Motor Vehicle Importers in Morocco. Morocco (AIVAM).

By segment, the number of new passenger vehicle (PC) registrations amounted to 48,148 units, down 7.74%, while that of light commercial vehicles (LCV) amounted to 5,764 units (-14 .87%), specifies the same source.

The “Dacia” brand dominates the passenger car segment, with a market share of 26.74%, i.e. 12,874 new registrations at the end of April 2022, followed by Renault, which sold 6,938 new units (market share of 14.41%), Hyundai (5,210 units and 10.82% market share) and Peugeot (3,676 vehicles and 7.63% market share).

As for light commercial vehicles (LCVs), Renault increased its sales by 91.15% to 1,296 units (22.48% market share), while DFSK saw its sales fall by 41.64% to 831 units (14.42% in market share), points out the AIVAM, noting that sales of the Mitsubishi brand rose by 8.81% to 741 units (12.86% in market share).

Regarding sales of “premium” cars, Audi sold 1,441 units at the end of April, representing a market share of 2.99%, ahead of Mercedes (983 units with a market share of 2.04%) and BMW. (910 vehicles and 1.89% market share). In addition, AIVAM reports that sales of Porsche fell by 3.73% to 129 vehicles, and those of Jaguar by 2.44% (40 units).
