Sales of new cars in Morocco stood at 95,544 units at the end of July 2022, down 11.03% compared to the same period last year, according to monthly statistics from the Association of Importers of Morocco. vehicles in Morocco (AIVAM).
By segment, the number of new registrations of private vehicles (PV) amounted to 85,771 units for the first seven months of this year, down 9.68%, while that of light utility vehicles (LCV) s is estimated at 9,773 units (-21.34%), specifies AIVAM.
The “Dacia” brand dominates the PC segment, with a market share of 27.55%, i.e. 23,634 units sold at the end of July 2022, followed by Renault which sold 11,946 units (market share of 13.93%) and Hyundai (8,575 units and 10% market share), notes the same source.
In the LCV segment, Renault dominates with 2,376 units (24.31% market share), while DFSK sold 1,439 vehicles (14.72% market share) and Ford 1,224 units (12.52% market share).
Regarding the month of July, AIVAM notes a drop in overall sales of 12.31% compared to July 2021. In detail, the passenger vehicle recorded a drop of -10.34% in July 2022 with 10,592 units sold compared to the same period in 2021 during which 11,814 units had passed. The light commercial vehicle also experienced a drop of 27.40% with 1,121 units sold last July, against 1,544 units sold a year earlier.
