The Regional Directorate of Agriculture (DRA) for the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, said that more than a million heads of sheep and goats intended for slaughter, on the occasion of the Aid Al Adha 1442, are the subject of the identification operation.
It specifies in this regard that 1,048,675 heads have been identified at 92% to date, divided between Rabat (3,261 heads), Salé (43,423 heads), Témara (191,991), Kénitra (120,000), Sidi Kacem ( 165,000), Sidi Slimane (95,000) and Khémisset (430,000).
The number of livestock in the region, all species combined, is 2,643,000 heads, divided between cattle, with 531,900 heads, sheep (1,903,100 heads) and goats (208,000 heads).
In accordance with the strategy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, the DRA of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, in coordination with all the stakeholders concerned, ensures, within the framework of the regional and provinces, monitoring, support, control and monitoring of animals in the souks, as well as the status of the implementation of the necessary health measures and the establishment of daily reporting.
In this regard, in order to facilitate the marketing of cattle intended for slaughter, the DRA has proceeded with the regional and provincial authorities to set up five pilot souks, in accordance with specifications taking into account the health, safety and preventive conditions.
These pilot souks are distributed between Kénitra (1), Salé (1), Rabat (2) and Témara (1), it is specified, adding that more than 50 weekly souks are set up in urban and rural areas of the different provinces. of the region.
Finally, the DRA assured that the preparations related to Operation Aid Al Adha 1442 are taking place in good organizational and health conditions, in these specific circumstances marked by the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
