Royal Pardon for 653 Convicts R / X

On the occasion of the Anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, has granted His pardon to 653 people, including 464 in detention, 173 at liberty and 16 convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, announced the Ministry of Justice in a press release.

*The detained beneficiaries of the pardon are 464 and are divided into: – 05 Inmates who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms;

– 455 prisoners who had their prison terms reduced;

– 04 inmates who had their prison sentences commuted from life imprisonment to fixed prison terms.

*The free beneficiaries of the pardon are 137 and are divided into:

-30 prisoners who benefited from pardon over their prison sentences or remaining prison terms;

-10 persons who benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while their fines were maintained;

-126 persons had their fines annulled;

-07 inmates who benefited from pardon over their prison terms and fines as well.

On this glorious occasion, His Majesty the King, may God preserve Him, has kindly granted His Pardon to prisoners convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, who have obtained the royal approval after officially expressing their attachment to the unwavering and sacred constants of the Nation and national institutions, revising their ideological orientations and rejecting extremism and terrorism.

They are 16 persons and are divided into: – 08 inmates who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms.

– One (01) prisoner who had his prison terms and fine annulled.

– 07 prisoners who had their prison terms reduced.

Royal pardon is customary in Morocco to mark national and religious holidays.
