Royal holding company donates 1 billion dirhams to quake fund

Royal holding company Al Mada said it would contribue a billion dirham to the fund set up by  King Mohammed VI for relief operations of quake-hit regions.

A statement from AL Mada Holding Company received by MoroccoLatestNews AR said the amount will be deposited in the special account that was created according to Royal Instructions on September 11,  with the aim of collecting solidarity initiatives in the face of the unprecedented natural disaster.

The fund targets around 50,000 partially or fully collapsed homes across five affected provinces. It consists of urgent relocation measures, offering temporary accommodations on-site or in weather-resistant structures, along with designated reception sites providing essential amenities.

Additionally, affected households will receive an emergency grant of 30,000 Moroccan dirhams.

Immediate reconstruction efforts will follow initial assessments and preparatory work, with direct financial aid of 140,000 dirhams for fully collapsed homes and 80,000 dirhams for partial rehabilitation.
