Royal Armed Forces celebrate 24th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne with swearing-in event

On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of his accession to the Throne, King Mohammed VI, Supreme Chief and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), presided over a swearing-in ceremony at the Place du Mechouar du Palais Royal of Tetouan.

Accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, the King baptized the officers of the promotions of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, who were graduates of the Grandes Ecoles and Military Institutes, paramilitary officers, and officers from the ranks, with the name “Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem.”

Expressing his pleasure in meeting the officers, King Mohammed VI emphasized the significance of modern training and continuous upgrading for the forces.

He commended their high level of mobilization, vigilance, and commitment to their national duty. In recognition of the exceptional work carried out by Princess Lalla Meryem in the field of social affairs within the Royal Armed Forces and her advocacy for women and children’s causes, the promotions were named in her honor.

The King urged the officers to uphold righteousness, commitment, discipline, sincere patriotism, and loyalty to the eternal motto: “God, Fatherland, King.”

Following the oath-taking, the King reviewed the detachments of the winning officers, which included graduates from prestigious military schools such as the Royal Military Academy, Royal Air Force School, Royal Naval School, and the Royal School of Military Health Service. Additionally, officers from the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Auxiliary Forces, as well as reserve officers from major paramilitary schools, were part of the ceremony.

Furthermore, King Mohammed VI promoted senior officers to the ranks of General and Colonel-Major and authorized the distribution of the FAR personnel promotion table for the year 2023. This gesture reflects his unwavering support and care for the family of the Royal Armed Forces.

Prior to the ceremony, Lieutenant General Mohamed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, presented the conclusions and results of the advancement work for officer and non-officer personnel of the Royal Armed Forces. The King expressed his satisfaction and conveyed his congratulations to the newly promoted, encouraging all personnel to continue their noble mission with dedication and loyalty to “God – The Fatherland – The King.”

The swearing-in event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including the Head of Government, the presidents of the two Chambers of Parliament, the King’s Counsellors, members of the government, senior officers of the General Staff of the FAR, foreign attachés, and other civil and military personalities.
