That said, this reaction from medical students has not gone unnoticed by Moroccan students in Ukraine, who are still traumatized by the horrors they have seen and experienced in their host country.
After hearing about this reaction, one of the dental students from Ukraine, AM expressed to MoroccoLatestNews UK her “understanding of the situation of medical students in Morocco, and the difficulties they encounter during their training (overcrowding, lack of training, lack of training grounds, etc.).
But according to our interlocutor, this decision of integration, or not, of the students of Ukraine within the Moroccan faculties, does not concern the students and is not in their hands. It is up to the State and the supervisory ministry or even the deans of the faculties to decide on this point. .
Refusal and blockade: A reaction incomprehensible”
Same story with Dr. Abderrahim Chab of the National Council of the Order of Physicians (CNOM) who does not understand precisely how ” of students refuse other students“.
” Just with this expression, it sounds really wrong“, estimated Dr. Chab who underlines that the medical students of Morocco ” have no right to say anything, since it is a state policy“. He also felt that these students ” just have to follow their studies and let their Moroccan colleagues work with them“, really not seeing the reason for this refusal.
In discussing with Dr. Chab the arguments put forward by future doctors, this member of the CNOM advances “ that these problems have always existed, long before students from Ukraine returned to Morocco. These are problems that do not date from today”.
” We have already made proposals to the State to find ways to ensure enough space for everyone. This is the famous private-public partnership. The State only has to establish a good partnership with the private sector and approve the clinics and private practices where students can carry out their internship. We must not concentrate everything on the State, because there are not enough infrastructures unlike the private sector (more than 400 clinics and private practices) where students can carry out their internships. The state must move in this direction“, advocated Dr. Chab.
By touring certain forums of medical students, we observe that the latter also criticize ” Note ” or ” level by students from Ukraine. On this point, Dr. Chab argues that “ the State has opened the door to foreign doctors to come and work in Morocco, whose training is unknown. We don’t even know their grade or level. A foreign doctor, he just has to bring back his diploma and he works directly. So where is the problem when it comes to Moroccan students?“, asks our interlocutor.
According to him, ” there is precisely no difference. Above all, that today we are also going to reduce the training to 6 years, which will allow us to have more doctors in Morocco, which is experiencing a shortage in this area.“.
In conclusion, Dr. Chab believes that we must also ” give time to this new government, which has just been installed, to think about solutions to remedy the various problems facing the health sector, in particular those affecting medical students“.
