The recognition by Israel of the Moroccanness of the Sahara is the fruit of the credibility and esteem enjoyed by King Mohammed VI within the international community, affirmed the Popular Movement (MP).
In a statement, the MP stressed that “this new diplomatic achievement is above all a victory of legitimacy and legality, the fruit of the credibility and esteem enjoyed by King Mohammed VI” within the international community. , and the illustration of the enlightened and wise diplomatic vision of the Sovereign who has consolidated Morocco’s place as a strategic partner on the continental, regional and international levels.
The party considered that the Israeli decision, which is a state decision, is part of the interaction with the healthy approach adopted by the Kingdom in defining the foundations of its foreign relations, as confirmed by HM the King in His address to the nation on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People.
Welcoming this “courageous and clear decision of the State of Israel vis-à-vis our territorial integrity”, the MP maintained that this new diplomatic breakthrough confirms the historical and strategic role of the Kingdom in the defense of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and constitutes a new starting point to strengthen its positions and its active contribution to the establishment of peace in the Middle East through the solution of two States living side by side in peace and security.
In this regard, the party called on all brotherly and friendly countries to “stand on the side of law and legitimacy”, to “distance themselves from wavering and ambiguous positions” and to “work to put an end to this artificial conflict which constitutes one of the vestiges of the Cold War, hampering the path of development in the North African region and the building of a solid Maghreb bloc”.
He also reiterated his “great pride in our Jewish-Moroccan compatriots, whether in Morocco, Israel or other countries of the world, for their sincere patriotism, their unwavering attachment to their country of origin, and their continuous mobilization to defend the national constants and supreme interests of Morocco in various international fora”.
A statement from the Royal Cabinet announced on Monday that His Majesty King Mohammed VI received a letter from the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he brought his country’s decision to the Very High Attention of the Sovereign. to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara. The Prime Minister also indicated that this position will be “reflected in all relevant acts and documents of the Israeli Government”.
