The management office of Raja Casablanca decided, this Sunday evening, to terminate the contract binding it to the Belgian coach, Marc Wilmots, after a long meeting which defined the unanimity of the members to dismiss his coach.
The sacking of the coach by Raja came immediately after the return of the Aigles Verts from Algeria, where they faced ES Sétif, on behalf of the second day of the group stage of the Champions League of the CIF. The match ended with Raja winning 1-0.
According to Hesport, several well-informed sources have indicated that the club president and some members of the management board met this evening with the Belgian coach to agree on the formula according to which the contract will be terminated, after a series of negative results in championship.
Many voices within Raja supporters have long been calling for the sacking of Marc Wilmots, as have members of the club’s management, but president Anis Mahfoud has decided to wait for the clash between Raja and ES Setif , given the lack of time to prepare for this crucial meeting, when the president had just renewed confidence in the coach.
The team’s draw with Olympique Khouribga, in Botola’s last match last Tuesday on Matchday 17, was the straw that turned the tide after a series of negative results, which made the difference between Raja and Wydad, the championship leader with a wide lead of 8 points.
The current management board of Raja Sports Club had decided to sign Marc Wilmots immediately after taking over management after sacking Tunisian coach Saad Chebbi.
