The 2nd stage of the Marathon des Sables (MDS), linking Monday Aguenoun N’Oumerhiout to Rich Mbirika over 38.5 km, went to Moroccan Mohamed El Morabity, followed by Aziz Yachou and his older brother Rachid El Morabity, 3rd of the step.
This slowdown of the favorite Rachid El Morabity, victorious during the inaugural stage of this MDS, benefited Aziz Yachou who is propelled to 1st place in the general classification (5h 13min 29sec), thus confirming his ambitions for the 1-st stage (2-nd at 21 sec difference from El Morabity). He is followed in the general classification by Mohamed El Morabity 4min 27sec apart.
The eldest brother of Morabity fell to 3rd place in the standings, 7min 09sec behind Aziz Yachou, now a serious contender for the title of this 36th edition of the MDS.
