The Istiqlal (PI) party held its National Council on Saturday, the opportunity to address, among other things, the crisis between Rabat and Madrid. In this regard, the PI underlined the need to carry out a real evaluation of the aspects of cooperation with Spain, but also to recover the despoiled Moroccan lands, including Sebta, Melilla and the Jaffarin Islands.
The participants thus pleaded for the reassessment of the cooperation with the neighbor to the north in various fields, in particular those related to questions of security, immigration, smuggling and terrorism, and the clear rejection of the “role of gendarme” that the Spain, and Europe more generally, want to play in Morocco.
The opposition party also denounced “the hostile positions and immoral practices carried out by the Spanish government, by agreeing to welcome the separatist leader, Brahim Ghali, to its land, in the manner of fugitives and outlaws. , in flagrant violation of the law, of all diplomatic norms and the rules of good neighborliness ”.
Ghali’s reception in Spain “raises serious questions about the possibility of facilitating evasion of justice and of promoting the impunity of a person accused of serious crimes against humanity, torture, rape, terrorism and kidnapping, ”said the father of the scales.
According to him, “the future of Moroccan-Spanish relations depends on the degree of respect for national sovereignty and the supreme interests of the Kingdom of Morocco as a precondition for restoring lost confidence”.
In the same vein, the PI called on Madrid to “decide definitively on its position vis-à-vis the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, and to support the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty, in particular after the recognition by the United States of the Moroccan character of the Sahara and of the Kingdom’s full sovereignty over its southern provinces ”.
And the PI to maintain that Spain “is required to contribute to the final closure of this conflict, fabricated from scratch by the enemies of the territorial integrity of Morocco, in order to be able to move forward towards the construction of a common future” .
Evoking also the Moroccan-Algerian relations, the party of Nizar Baraka denounced “the irresponsible and clumsy declarations of the + junta + in power in Algeria, which denote a deep hatred and reflect a tyrannical doctrine which does not cease plotting against the interests of the Moroccan and Algerian peoples, and to distill its venom to disunite the brothers of the two countries ”.
“Morocco, which has always shown wisdom, common sense and discernment in the face of provocations from its eastern neighbor, will nevertheless continue to defend its territorial integrity, and to protect its superior interests, with firmness and rigor. required ”, added the PI, noting that the Kingdom“ will not let itself be diverted from the path it has mapped out to build its new development model, play its roles at the regional and international levels, and remain faithful to its conviction of the need to build the Union of the Great Maghreb ”.
