The province of Quebec will be the guest of honor at the 28th edition of the book and publishing fair, which will be held from June 1 to 11 at OLM Souissi, in Rabat.
“After the celebration last year of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Canada, we are honored to welcome, in this 28th edition, Quebec (Canada) as a special guest. This cultural exchange promises visitors to the Fair the discovery of the latest novelties from the world of Quebec publishing and books”, underlined the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, in a message published on the official website of the show.
The director of the Quebec office in Rabat was pleased, for her part, “for this honoring of Quebec at the 28th edition of the International Book and Publishing Fair”, adding that this event “also raises an important milestone in relations between Quebec (Canada) and Morocco, particularly in the area of cultural cooperation”.
“Quebecers are proud of their culture, because it is original, diverse, audacious, but also because it is part of their DNA,” she continued, noting that “authors du Québec will be able to present their works, share their ideas, share their stories and express their vision of the world, in all simplicity”.
This fair represents “as many opportunities as this great literary event allows and, for visitors, to discover new works and new talents”, she observed.
And to offer, as guest of honor, a varied program that will allow visitors to the Salon to participate in meetings and debates bringing together writers, publishers and booksellers Quebec.
The 2023 edition of the International Publishing and Book Fair will take place in Rabat, for the second consecutive year, after its relocation from the economic capital, Casablanca.
The displacement of this cultural event, usually organized in Casablanca, is due to the reorganization of the exhibition space of the economic capital, for logistical reasons, had indicated, in February, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, noting that an international book fair for children and young people, as well as a large national book fair will be organized in Casablanca.
