The National Federation of Tourist Transport in Morocco (FNTT) called for a revision of the program contract, signed in early August 2020, and to replace it with a new more inclusive contract with stage plans in order to accelerate the recovery of the sector.
The Federation, which held a meeting on Wednesday to examine the impact of the pandemic on tourist transport in Morocco as well as the various ways out of this crisis, also pleaded for the establishment of pacts and principles. ethics governing commercial transactions between the various stakeholders in the sector.
The professionals recommended setting up committees made up of regional associations in order to monitor insurance cases as well as other pending cases, and other sectoral committees made up of representatives of regional associations in order to ensure the revision of pre-crisis commercial contracts with all commercial partners.
Also, professionals called for the implementation of rescue procedures for tourist transport companies in Morocco and tourism companies by dedicating urgent support to them to avoid bankruptcy.
On this occasion, the secretary general of the FNTT, Mohamed Bamansour, recalled the harmful impact of the health crisis on tourist transport operators, explaining that the closure of the borders still slows down the activity of the sector dependent on the arrivals of foreign tourists. .
Bamansour drew attention to the vulnerability of employees in the sector who need to speed up the release of financial assistance intended for them, calling for the extension of support measures for this category until the opening of borders and the recovery. of tourist activity.
The SG said that during a meeting with the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, the federation pleaded for the modification of the specifications of the sector and to allow operators to benefit from the advantages of fleet renewal in the same way as other sectors.
On the fiscal front, he informed the competent authorities of several correspondence to exempt tourist transport vehicles from the tax at the end of the next two years, in accordance with the program contract for the revival of the tourism sector.
It is also a question of suspending the operations of the fiscal control concerning the sector for a minimum period of 3 years and of reducing the Value Added Tax (VAT) from 14% to 7%.
