The criminal chamber near the court of first instance of Settat, sentenced this Wednesday evening, to two years in prison, a university professor criminally responsible in what is now known as the scandal of “sex against good grades” at the University of Hassan Premier of Settat.
The scandal erupted when students revealed screenshots of WhatsApp conversations of a sexual nature exchanged with the university teacher in question. This had spread to such an extent that the dean of the faculty of legal and political sciences had finally submitted his resignation.
The accused who attended his trial by videoconference from the agricultural prison of Ali Moumen in the vicinity of the city of Settat, can however appeal the judgment within a period not exceeding ten days in the past. As for the hearings of the victim and the witness, they were taken from the Court of Appeal of Settat in room n ° 3 which compared them to their initial depositions for the sole purpose of verifying the veracity of the facts. The wife of the respondent was not left out and was also part of the game. She was heard and gave up on suing her husband for infidelity and expressed her reluctance to press charges against him.
During the pleading process, the defense of the accused intervened, stressing that the crime of indecent aggression with violence and sexual harassment is not established against his client, in accordance with article 503 / 1-2 of the Penal Code, so he called for the removal of violence from the act due to the lack of violence and proof of consent.
The professor’s defense asked the court to readjust the act related to a sexual relationship between a married man and a woman, according to article 432 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, with proof of the wife’s renunciation, which results in the abandonment of the pursuit. We imagine it and his defense, the defense was not followed in view of the verdict that some consider light in relation to the scandal and movements triggered after facts across the Kingdom.
As a reminder, in this scandal of “Sex against good grades”, two teachers are being prosecuted under arrest and two others are on bail. The main accused, appeared on Wednesday before the Court of Appeal of Settat while the four other defendants are being prosecuted for the counts of indecent assault with violence and sexual harassment, incitement to debauchery and discrimination based on sex.
