The producer price index for the “Manufacturing industries excluding oil refining” sector rose by 2.5% in January 2022 compared to December 2021, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP ).
This increase is explained by the rise in prices for the “Chemical industry” by 9.2%, the “Food industries” (0.7%), the “Automotive industry” (2.2%), “Clothing industry” (1.2%), “Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products” (0.5%), in “Metallurgy” and in “Manufacture of rubber and plastic” by 0.6% and in the “Manufacture of electrical equipment” by 0.8%, specifies the HCP in its recent information note relating to the industrial, energy and mining producer price index (IPPIEM ).
The said note also mentions a drop in prices in “Manufacture of furniture” by 0.6% and in “Industry of paper and cardboard” by 0.1%.
In addition, the producer price indices of the “Extractive industries”, “Electricity production and distribution” and “Water production and distribution” sectors stagnated during January 2022.
