The director general of the National Ports Agency (ANP), Nadia Laraki, indicated that port activity should mark a recovery for 2022 to reach 92.8 million tonnes, up 2.4% from compared to the 2021 achievement forecasts.
The activity of the ports under the authority of the Agency began to gradually return to its normal rhythm in 2021, and the traffic carried out at the end of November 2021 reached a volume of 83.1 million tonnes, down only 1.8% by report to the same period of the past year, indicated the DG of the ANP, who spoke at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Agency, held at the beginning of the week under the chairmanship of the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka.
During the presentation of the main lines of the investment program, Nadia Laraki, quoted by a press release from the Ministry of Equipment and Water, specified that it totals 2.2 billion dirhams for the 2022 triennium. -2024, including 957.5 million dirhams for the year 2022.
Regarding financial indicators, the manager specified that the Agency’s turnover for the year 2022 will exceed the 2.2 billion dirhams mark, an improvement of 2.3% compared to the realization forecasts for the year 2021.
With regard to the Agency’s entity project for the year 2022, she underlined the main orientations that governed its preparation, in particular the optimization of investments, the acceleration of the pace of implementation of current projects, strengthening of operational regulation, the implementation of the ANP’s CSR approach and the pursuit of the digital transformation of the sector through the SMART PORT program.
For his part, Nizar Baraka underlined the importance of the role played by Moroccan ports as the main link in logistics chains and as a focal lever for creating value at regional and national level.
The socio-economic impact of the ports depends on the contribution of several actors and stakeholders, in particular the sectoral regulator, to whom strong and permanent support is necessary to enable it to succeed in its missions, underlined the Minister.
According to the press release, during this meeting, devoted to the examination and adoption of the draft budgets for 2022, the Council took note with satisfaction of the main axes of the ANP action plan aimed, among others , the anchoring of good sector regulation practices, the strengthening and modernization of the port offer and the acceleration of the digital transformation of the ports under the authority of the Agency.
