A few days before the “congress” of the Polisario militia, the best known of the senior executives of the separatist group operating in Europe, Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, announced his resignation and his intention not to run again.
The Polisario leadership continues to suffer setbacks in recent months, after the success of the peace conference organized by the Sahrawi Movement for Peace (MSP), which brings together dissidents of the terrorist group.
The Polisario has observed an unprecedented movement of defiance that has manifested itself among young people, and has had to recognize crimes against humanity, in addition to the new Security Council resolution which once again endorsed the political solution based on the compromise, while urging the humanitarian organizations that “the delivery of humanitarian aid is done in accordance with the good practices of the United Nations”, because of the diversion of this aid by the militia and Algeria.
This time, the leadership of the polisario headed by Brahim Ghali, has just lost one of its “valiant fighters”, their representative in Europe and with the European Union, Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, who has just announced his resignation. on the basis of deep disagreements with Brahim Ghali.
“After a firm request months ago, today I submitted my resignation in writing to the Secretary General of the Polisario (Brahim Ghali, editor’s note) from my position in charge of Europe and the EU. I thanked him for trusting me, but deep disagreements with him over vision and methods forced me to make this difficult decision,” he wrote on Twitter.
It is not clear for the moment of the reasons having pushed this relay of the polisario in Europe which tries to make those ignorant of the Sahara file adhere to the separatist theses of the polisario claiming that the Sahara would be a country, while changing the narrative of the real story.
Two choices are possible in the face of this resignation which seems hasty in view of the electoral deadlines in Tindouf in Algeria. Either, indeed, Oubi Bouchraya Bachir is also unhappy with Polisario policy, or he was forced to resign after the failure of the conference of Polisario supporters (Eucoco) organized in Berlin on December 2 where he saw the support to the separatist thesis shattered.
Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, born in Mauritania and product of separatist propaganda who grew up in Tindouf, also announced his intention not to run again for this post. His future within the separatist group remains uncertain, but he can always count on Algerian money not to turn around.
Bashir’s defection remains a clear sign of the very significant internal problems within the separatist militia in addition to the loss of international support. Even if he resigned, the Polisario member wanted to say that he keeps the same positions as the Polisario.
