The UN Women Morocco, the Embassy of France, the French Institute of Morocco and the French Development Agency announced Friday the launch of a national photography competition “Equality in your street”.
The organizers explain in a press release that this competition, held from July 9 to September 15, is part of the global campaign “Generation Equality”, a global campaign initiated on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Declaration and the Program of Beijing action.
Young people, aged 18 to 35, are invited to participate and reveal their talent as a photographer to expose their vision of gender equality and what it looks like in their surroundings, their street, their neighborhood or their city.
The photographs will first be sent to the 12 French Institutes of the Kingdom and the Alliance française de Safi, which will each select an application, the statement said.
And to emphasize that among the thirteen (13) candidates chosen locally, three (03) laureates will be selected by a national jury, composed of representatives of the French institutes, the French Embassy, the French Development Agency and UN Women. “Twenty-five years later, Beijing’s promise has only been partially fulfilled and social justice is still inaccessible to too many women.”
Thus, to give visibility to the unfinished work of gender equality and women’s rights, UN Women is launching the global campaign “Generation Equality: For women’s rights and an equal future”.
This campaign aims to demand pay equity, equal sharing of unpaid care and domestic work, an end to sexual harassment and all forms of violence against women and girls, health care services that meet their needs, as well as their equal participation in politics and decision-making in all spheres of life.
