The elements of the Judicial Police Brigade under the Midelt security district succeeded, Friday morning, on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), to arrest a repeat offender for his alleged involvement in an attempted trafficking of 500 kg of chira.
The suspect (47) was arrested at a road checkpoint at the entrance to the town of Midelt, immediately after his arrival aboard a freight transport truck, said the Directorate General of national security (DGSN) in a press release.
The searches carried out allowed the seizure, inside the vehicle, of 20 bundles of chira with a total weight of 500 kilograms (kg), the statement said.
The respondent was taken into custody for the purposes of the investigation carried out by the competent prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity and all the criminal acts attributed to the person concerned, added the DGSN.
