Ounahi begins his Marseille adventure with a goal against Nantes

Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi started his adventure with Olympique de Marseille in the best possible way, scoring a goal in his new team’s victory against Nantes (2-0).

The Atlas Lion (22), semi-finalist of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, signed on Sunday with the Marseille club for 4 and a half years.

Returning in the 73rd minute to replace the Chilean Alexis Sanchez, the Moroccan international scored the second goal for the Marseillais in added time (90+3), allowing his team to temporarily place second in the French championship.

15 minutes at OM was enough for him.

The first goal of the visitors was the work of Victor (57 csc)

“I am very happy. Today we had a great match. We had control of the match and we ended up with two great goals. We come home with three points, I’m really happy,” said Ounahi at the end of the match.

Born in Casablanca on April 19, 2000, Ounahi was trained at Raja Casablanca before joining the Mohammed VI Football Academy in 2015 where he developed his potential and refined his abilities like his teammates in the selection (Nayef Aguerd , Youssef En-Nesyri or Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti).

At only 18, he left Morocco for France and joined RC Strasbourg in the summer of 2018, then with US Avranches. After a year in Normandy, he joined SCO Angers in 2021, made his Ligue 1 debut and played 32 games with the Angevins in his first season.

He continues this season, author of a good first part of the championship. His performances allow him to be selected by Walid Regragui to compete in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with his country.

A major player in the course of the Atlas Lions in the World Cup, Azzedine Ounahi started every game against Croatia, Belgium, Canada, Spain, Portugal and France.
