A hard blow for Oussama Tannane. The Moroccan international was dismissed by his club, Vitesse Arnhem and will therefore not play the match against Stade Rennes in the Europa League.
Osama Tannane’s setbacks continue. Known for his fiery temperament, the Atlas Lion has again derailed, after an incessant conflict with his coach, Thomas Letsch. The latter decided to withdraw the 27-year-old striker from the team for the European meeting with Stade Rennes.
Tannane and Letsch have had a difference of opinion since the start of the preparation. The Moroccan wanted to make a start this summer. As a result, he barely participated in the training campaign.
A situation that pushed the former Saint-Étienne to attack his coach. After the European match against Anderlecht, the Moroccan went crazy by indulging in a verbal game.
Relations were therefore already disrupted, but in the end the transfer of Tannane, hoped for by both parties, did not materialize. After that, an awkward situation arose in the Vitesse camp. Letsch only used the dribbler sporadically. At Mura (Vitesse 2-0 victory) he was the best on the pitch, but against FC Twente (1-4) a substitution followed at half-time.
This week the conflict came to a head. Letsch kept Tannane on the bench against Fortuna Sittard (1-1). He then said he didn’t think the native of Tetouan “could help him”. A new stage followed for the important Conference League match against Rennes. Letsch withdrew Tannane from the squad. He will comment on this decision today.
Osama Tannane, who has been loaned out several times in recent years, is known for his excessive behavior. The Moroccan was previously sent off by FC Utrecht due to slippage during training after landing a nasty tackle on teammate Sean Klaiber.
Club experiences that served him for his future in selection, since he was not often called. His last experience with Morocco dates back to October 2020 under Vahid during a friendly match against Senegal at the Moulay-Abdallah Sports Complex in Rabat (victory, 3-1). Regularly put on the bench during the qualifying phase for CAN 2022, he was no longer recalled.
