For the second year in a row, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy called on Moroccan manufacturers to manufacture school satchels for the year 2021-2022.
As part of the Royal Initiative “One million school bags” and the government’s desire to encourage national industry and “Made in Morocco”, this call implements a partnership agreement signed between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Industry, setting the commitments of each and the management bodies of the operation at the central and regional level.
Thus, a technical consultation was launched on May 3, 2021 by the Ministry of Industry with five professional associations (Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industries, Moroccan Federation of Leather Industries, Moroccan Association of Plastics, Association of Booksellers of Morocco and Association of Schoolbag Manufacturers).
Through this consultation, companies were invited to present samples of satchels made from fabrics of Moroccan origin, in accordance with the technical specifications of the Moroccan standard in force and the quality specifications of the Ministry of National Education. Samples must also be accompanied by a compliance report issued by Moroccan laboratories approved by the Ministry of Industry (CTTH, CTPC, ESITH).
The selection of offers is based on four criteria, the first of which relates to the quality of the raw material and the adaptability of the fabric. The second concerns the technical conformity of the binder (laboratory report). While the third and fourth focus respectively on the production capacity per day and on the presentation and design of the satchel.
This year, out of 31 offers received by the selection committee (made up of representatives of the ministries signatory to the partnership agreement), 21 deemed to comply with the aforementioned criteria were selected.
Last year, 4 companies were selected out of the 9 which submitted an offer, within the framework of the said technical consultation.
