The National Office for Sanitary Safety of Food Products (ONSSA) launched, Wednesday in Rabat, its “Coopdays” under the theme “The health authorization of ONSSA: a regulatory obligation for units of the agri-food industry”.
The “Coopdays” aim to raise awareness among cooperatives working in the agri-food sector on the obligation to obtain health authorization from ONSSA.
In a speech for the occasion, the regional director of ONSSA Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Youssef Lhor, expressed the importance of these first awareness days with the aim of convincing all the cooperatives which produce, process, package, store and label foodstuffs in order to distribute them on the national market, the obligation to obtain the sanitary license from the Office.
In this context, he invited all the cooperatives which do not have a health license to regularize their situation before continuing their activity, noting that the owners of these cooperatives will have to communicate with the regional offices of ONSSA in order to file a health license application.
“These days, which are launched today in the region of Rabat, are part of the awareness program organized by the office at the national level in several cities, including Casablanca, Tangier, Meknes, Beni Mellal, Marrakech , Agadir, Errachidia, Laayoune and Oujda,” he said.
And to add that these awareness campaigns are part of the Office’s communication strategy, which is based on the principle of close communication with all the players and professionals in the field of product safety. food.
The production, treatment, transformation, packaging, conditioning, storage and labeling units of any food product with a view to its placing on the market, which do not have the health authorization of the ONSSA, are considered not to comply with the regulations in force, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 28-07 relating to the safety of food products.
To date, 9,677 companies and establishments working in the food industry sector at the national level are authorized and regularly checked on the health plan by ONSSA.
