The Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco in Geneva, Omar Zniber, denounced the hostile maneuvers of the Algerian representative at the Human Rights Council, which obscured the deplorable human rights situation in his country and attacked the Morocco.
Omar Zniber and the Moroccan delegation participating in a debate under the Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Assembly, addressed the audience with a response message to the Algerian representative who endeavored to distort the situation in Morocco instead of focusing on the situation in his country.
“Instead of his pathological fixation on Morocco and his sickly will to always want to undermine the new dynamic comforting the historical, political, cultural, religious and economic reality of the Moroccan character of the Sahara, it would be better for the Algerian delegate to use his energy and stubbornness towards other ends, better oriented and more in line with the object of our meetings, and without vulgarity of language and lack of respect to this body ”, underlined the Moroccan delegation.
The Algerian representative was questioned on the human rights situation in Algeria where the government and the Algerian president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, were placed in the Mouradia palace by the generals in power following a boycotted presidential election. by the people and where the soldiers, who do not have the right to vote, have voted and impersonate other people to vote in their place.
Thus, referring to the repression of the Hirak movement launched since 2019 and which remains determined today to call for the end of the military dictatorship in Algeria, Omar Zniber declared that it would be more appropriate to respond to the arrests and global claims on the violations of rights in Algeria “and the claims of millions of young Algerians without horizons” who pound the pavement daily, to cry out their despair and their distress in the face of their deplorable living conditions and to demand the change of a political system mixing nepotism and corruption ”, instead of continually attacking Morocco.
The Moroccan delegation also considered that the current Algerian regime is the least well placed to set itself up as a lesson-giver in the field of human rights, so much so the reports of the mechanisms of the OHCHR (high commissioner for human rights ) and NGOs are unequivocal and formally establish violations of human rights by Algerian rulers on the multiple violations of human rights.
“Algeria has become known worldwide as the country of a million queues”, launched Omar Zniber denouncing a serious deterioration of the human condition and an attack on the human dignity of Algerians, a certain part of which today is forced to queue for basic products at a time when the generals have been getting richer for 60 years and do not want to cede power.
“Beyond repression, torture, moral and sexual harassment, and arrests targeting activists and demonstrators to weaken the Hirak, the conduct of the dictatorial regime of the generals, made Algeria known worldwide as the country the million queues, ”he said.
