The national platform “e-himaya” dedicated to the protection of children online, was launched this Tuesday, December 7 in Rabat by the Digital Development Agency (ADD) under the chairmanship of the Minister of Digital Transition and Reform of the Administration, Ghita Mezzour, and in the presence of the members of the National Coordination Committee set up for this purpose.
Launched as part of the efforts of ADD and its partners, this first version of the e-Himaya platform available in two languages (Arabic and French) allows targets to access relevant information, useful advice and fun content. and best practices in digital security and preventing children from online risks.
This content also allows children and young people to benefit from the opportunities offered by digital technology, and also to support parents / guardians in educating and controlling the use of digital by their children.
The platform is therefore the result of collaborative work between the members of the National Coordination Committee, made up of institutions and organizations such as the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, the Ministry delegated to the Head of Government in charge of the Digital Transition and the Reform of the Administration, Bank Al Maghrib, the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA), the General Directorate of Information Systems Security, the Royal Gendarmerie, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT), the Digital Development Agency (ADD), and the National Observatory for the Rights of the Child (ONDE).
“Today, we launched the e-himaya platform, which is an awareness platform for children to help them use the internet and digitization healthily. This falls within the framework of the policy of King Mohammed VI so that digitization is at the service of the citizen. As you know, digitization opens up great horizons. In times of Covid-19, everything stopped, but digitization and digital remained active. All of this has kept education, health and justice going. For the minister, the culture of digitization should be taught to children, as well as to parents and teachers, as they are taught to cross the road and pay attention to signs. “They must be taught how to use the internet healthily so that they can learn things instead of harming them.“, did she say.
Aware of the failure to launch the platform without advertising, the Minister specified that a series of advertising campaigns will be launched so that parents and students are aware of the existence of the platform and can take advantage of it.
“The content of the platform is global. It deals with many aspects of healthy internet use. We did it with ADD and other partners so that there is content that corresponds to children, with games, quizzes and cartoons in order to better understand the message.», Underlined the Minister.
The launch of the platform “e-Himaya“Is part of the”Digital culture / online protection of children»Aimed at establishing a culture of appropriate use of digital technology and protecting children and young people from the related risks, led by ADD under the supervision of the aforementioned Coordination Committee, which is responsible for supervising and monitoring the implementation. implementation of the action plan linked to this initiative.
In this context, it is planned to enrich this platform with other awareness-raising content around the secure use of digital (in the form of videos, capsules, fun games for children, activities for teachers, comics, etc. .) as well as the organization of awareness-raising and communication activities.
Questioned by MoroccoLatestNews, Ilham Laaziz, Director of the engineering program at the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports told us that the platform includes several training and information tools, but also protection tools that parents can install at home in order to protect their children from accessing illegal sites, but also a large training component which is intended for teachers to make students aware of the proper use of the Internet.
