The Office des Changes indicated that the transfers of funds made by Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE) amounted to 71.88 billion dirhams (MMDH) during the first nine months of this year, against 50, 46 billion dirhams at the end of September 2020.
In its bulletin on monthly external trade indicators for the month of September, the Office specifies that these transfers thus show an increase of 42.5% or 21.42 billion dirhams.
This bulletin also reports a surplus in the balance of trade in services up 4.9% for the first time since the start of the crisis linked to the pandemic of the new coronavirus (46.53 billion dirhams). Thus, exports improved by 6.7% to stand at 101.25 billion dirhams at the end of September 2021, while imports increased by 8.3% to 54.71 billion dirhams.
Travel, the main component of trade in services, posted a surplus balance down 6.7%, mainly attributable to the decline in travel receipts from 6.1% to MAD 24.74 billion at the end of September 2021. In parallel, travel expenses fell by 4.7%.
