No disruption in production or tensions on the stocks of drugs that are part of the Covid-19 therapeutic protocol has been recorded to date, says the Moroccan Federation of Pharmaceutical Industry and Innovation (FMIIP) on Thursday.
“Following the publication of certain information in the media and social networks indicating a tension in the availability of essential drugs, the FMIIP, bringing together the main national producers, wishes to reassure public opinion and confirms that it has not recorded any disruption in the production or tension on the stocks of drugs that are part of the Covid-19 therapeutic protocol, in particular chloroquine, azithromycin, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, paracetamol and heparin ”, specifies the FMIIP in a statement.
The FMIIP, in close collaboration and consultation with the public authorities, anticipates the challenges to come, particularly in terms of logistics, and as such ensures that the national market is constantly supplied, as has been the case since the outbreak. pandemic, in accordance with Circular No. DMP / 00/75, adds the same source.
On the other hand, the Federation urges all stakeholders to commit to providing the necessary drugs and health products with a regulatory safety stock for a period of three months for industrial pharmaceutical companies and one month for distributors.
Despite the challenges relating to the vulnerability of international logistics chains, the accessibility and rising costs of medicines, Moroccan manufacturers and their representative organization, the FMIIP, have mobilized at all levels, from the outset of the pandemic threat, with a view to limiting any risk of shortage through optimal management of security stocks, the statement continued.
First association in the sector, founded in 1985, the FMIIP (formerly AMIP) has been committed for more than 35 years to the development of the national pharmaceutical industry and brings together the main Moroccan laboratories, and multinationals with production sites of drugs in the country. FMIIP members also represent more than 260 foreign groups. The FMIIP is also the first sectoral federation of the pharmaceutical industry at the CGEM.
