Ciments du Maroc has announced the launch of a new grinding center 18 km from the city of Nador in the municipality of Ouled Settout, which will be operational in July 2022. With a production capacity of 700,000 tonnes of cement per year, this new structure will support the development of the North and East regions.
With an investment of 330 million dirhams, this new unit will thus be able to meet the growing demand for cement, while optimizing the domestic use of Ciments du Maroc’s clinker capacity.
Since the start of the construction site in 2020, nearly 250 people have been working every day for the construction of the center which has been entrusted to Moroccan companies: Engineering, civil engineering construction (buildings and industrial civil engineering), manufacture of structures and equipment, mechanical assembly , electrical assembly and automation…
The grinding center should generate no less than 200 direct and indirect jobs from its start-up.
This project will contribute to meeting the regional demand for cement despite the context of overcapacity in clinker which has impacted the national market for several years. It will thus make it possible to develop a wide range of standard, special and innovative products in the northern and eastern regions in order to meet all needs in residential, non-residential and infrastructure projects.
According to Matteo Rozzanigo, Managing Director of Ciments du Maroc, “the investment in this grinding center in Nador is a major turning point for Ciments du Maroc, which will now be present throughout the national territory”.
“This grinding center represents an important step in our geographic diversification,” he added.
It should be noted that this investment reflects the confidence of our reference shareholder, the German group HeidelbergCement, in the Kingdom of Morocco.
