New edition next October over 2,500 km

The Solar and New Energies Research Institute (IRESEN) has joined forces with the Dutch organization “Classic Events” and the Souss-Massa region for the organization, next October, of a new edition of the “Moroccan Race Solar Challenge”, which consists of a race of solar cars over 2,500 km.

The 2021 Challenge will link Agadir to Merzouga over 5 stages, during which the participants will use only solar energy, indicates IRESEN on Monday, adding that this new edition will engage world-renowned teams made up of dynamic students to choose the prototype. presenting the best combination of speed and energy savings.

Initiated by IRESEN in 2013, the “Moroccan Solar Race Challenge” was the first solar car race organized in Morocco with ambitious educational and scientific objectives. The race is intended for Moroccan and foreign students from higher education establishments to encourage innovation initiatives offering solutions for the future capable of promoting sustainable mobility.

IRESEN and Classic Events intend to work together to establish a long-term organizational link to continue the promotion and use of solar energy, the statement said.
