Overall sales of new cars in Morocco stood at 64,025 units at the end of May, down 4.45% compared to the same period in 2022, according to monthly statistics from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco ( AIVAM).
By segment, the number of new passenger vehicle (PC) registrations fell by 2.73%, with 58,365 units sold at the end of May 2023, while that of light commercial vehicles (LCV) fell by 19, 20%, with 5,660 units sold, says AIVAM.
The Dacia brand dominates the PC segment, with a market share (PDM) of 23.04%, i.e. 13,448 units sold at the end of May 2023, followed by Renault which sold 9,122 units (PDM of 15.63%) and Hyundai (7,391 units and 12.66% of PDM), specifies the same source.
In the LCV segment, Renault sold 1,220 units (21.55% market share), ahead of DFSK which sold 928 vehicles (16.40%) and FIAT with 656 units (11.59%).
On the premium side, Audi sold 1,670 units, representing a market share of 2.86%, ahead of BMW (1,330 units and a market share of 2.28%) and Mercedes (1,168 units and a share of 2%).
For its part, Porsche sold 193 units, with a market share of 0.33%, while Jaguar sales reached 50 cars (0.09% market share).
