The Insurance and Social Welfare Supervisory Authority (ACAPS) indicated the net result of the insurance sector increased by 1% to reach 4.3 billion dirhams (MMDH) in 2022.
In a document on the situation of the insurance and reinsurance sector in 2022, explains that at the origin of this progression, the non-technical result which posted a surplus of 626 million dirhams (MDH) against a deficit of 151 MDH.
However, adds the same source, the progress recorded conceals contrasting developments between direct insurers who saw their net income increase by 1.8% to 4 billion dirhams, while that of exclusive reinsurers suffered a drop of 9.5% to 282 MDH.
For its part, the overall ROE fell slightly to 9.4% against 9.5% a year earlier, notes ACAPS, which notes that in 2022, the equity of insurance and reinsurance companies appreciated by 2% to reach 45.5 billion dirhams.
This growth is mainly driven by direct insurers who saw their own funds increase by 3.5% to reach 42.7 billion dirhams, at a time when those of exclusive reinsurers fell by 16.8%, following the exit of an operator active in this segment.
