Thursday’s press conference comes just over a year after Walid Regragui was appointed coach of the Atlas Lions. Here is the list of selected players:

Goalkeepers: Yassine Bounou, Mounir El Kajoui, Mehdi Benabid, Youssef Mouati.

Defenders: Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui, Ghanem Saiss, Jawad El Yamiq, Nayef Aguerd, Younis Abdelhamid, Yahya Attiatallah, Abdelkabir Abqar.

Midfielders: Amir Ridcharson, Benjamin Bouchouari, Selim Amellah, Soufyan Amrabat, Azzedine Ounahi, Bilal Khannous.

Forwards: Amine Harit, Zakaria Aboukhlal, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Ismail Sibairi, Amine Adli, Youssef Cheddira, Ayoub Kaabi, Ibrahim Salah, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Youssef En-Nseyri.

On another note, Regragui said that the door is still open to player Lamine Yamal, winger of the Spanish Barcelona team.

“Lamine Yamal is 16 years old, it is difficult for him to choose at this age, and I understand that. The university and I personally worked on this file, and we hope that it will be with us in the future,” the head coach said during the press conference.

The national coach stressed that if Yamal chose Spain, this would not detract from his Moroccan identity, highlighting that he would be happy to have the Barcelona player join the national team and brand Morocco’s colors.

Regragui highlighted that the case of Lamine Yamal applies to Ibrahim Diaz, who has not yet decided which team will represent, adding that players with dual nationalities find it difficult to choose.
