The Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) of Morocco has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Arab Economic and Social Councils and similar institutions for a 3-year term.
The mandate includes the current year and must end in 2025. The CESE was elected during the Extraordinary General Assembly, held on June 20, 2022 in Algiers. As a reminder, the EESC is a founding member of the League/Union of Arab Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions. In addition, the announcement of the foundation of this institution was made in Rabat in 2015.
The ESEC of Morocco was represented at the work of this session by Younes Benakki, Secretary General of the Council, Khalil Bensami, member of the Council, and Hicham El Alaoui, senior expert on the Council, indicates the ESEC in a press release, noting that at the agenda included a number of items concerning the adoption of the change of name of the organization from “League” to “Union”, the revision of its rules of procedure, the definition of its action plan for the next three years , the renewal of its executive bodies, as well as the approval of the membership of the Tunisian National Council for Social Dialogue.
On the sidelines of the work of the General Assembly, a workshop was organized on the economic and social effects of the pandemic and the role of economic and social councils, during which the Moroccan delegation presented the Kingdom’s experience in dealing with the repercussions of the health crisis, as well as the Council’s contribution to the reflection and proposal to reduce the effects of this crisis on health, social services and economic dynamics, the statement concluded.
