Australia’s football federation has expressed its ambition to co-host the FIFA Club World Cup in 2029, alongside New Zealand, after Morocco’s Fouzi Lekjaa announced the Kingdom’s desire to host the event in the same year, along with Spain and Portugal.
“We believe we are in a strong position to host the oldest women’s international competition in the world, the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026, and then welcome the greatest teams in world football for the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup,” a statement from the Australian federation read.
Head of Morocco’s FRMF Fouzi Lekjaa previously noted that countries hosting the FIFA World Cup have the prerogative to organize the FIFA Club World Cup one year prior to assess their readiness.
