Morocco has been re-elected member of the board of the International Association of Maritime Signaling (AISM) for the period 2023-2027. the occasion of the holding of the 14th General Assembly of IALA and its 20th conference, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
A press release from the Ministry of Equipment and Water indicates that the Kingdom, as a national member of IALA, has applied, among 26 other member states, to win a seat on the IALA Council. , adding that a strong Moroccan delegation took part in the work of the conference of the Association and its general assembly.
Also, a promotion campaign was conducted jointly by the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad.
Morocco represents the only Arab and African country in the IALA Council alongside 23 member states. This re-election of the Kingdom thus reflects the confidence it enjoys with the international maritime community and constitutes international recognition of the progress made by Morocco in the port and maritime sector, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
The re-election of Morocco, alongside IALA and its national member states, will enable it to contribute to the strengthening of its missions and to confirm its position within the international maritime community in areas related to the safety of maritime navigation and the protection of the marine environment, notes the press release.
Morocco will continue to work in support of the actions carried out by IALA, in particular, by positioning the safety of maritime navigation in Africa among the priority axes of the strategy carried out by this association and to translate its motto “successful voyages, a planet sustainable,” the statement concludes.
