Morocco is positioned, industrially, as one of the most competitive countries in the world, said Thursday in Casablanca, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.
Speaking at a conference initiated by the Association for the Progress of Leaders (APD) and dedicated to the new directions of Morocco’s industrial policy, Ryad Mezzour noted that the Kingdom has an industrial strategy “clear and well identified”.
This industrial strategy of Morocco, focused on industrial sovereignty and the positioning of the country as a regional hub, is also based on the capacity of national human resources to meet all the challenges and attract investors from all over the world, a- he continued.
Ryad Mezzour, in this context, affirmed that Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, has experienced a succession of industrial strategies (Emergence Plan 2005-2009, National Pact for Industrial Emergence 2009-2014, Acceleration Plan 2014-2020 and Industrial Recovery Plan 2021-2023) which, he said, made it possible to “to position the Kingdom as a regionally competitive hub”.
Thus, Morocco’s industrial trajectory pursues a three-stage development, he noted. This is a “Cost-Focus” strategy which has made it possible to lay the foundations of modern industrial Morocco, reinforced by a “Cost-leadership” strategy around the Industrial Acceleration Plan with the prospect of positioning the Kingdom in as a “Best Value” destination.
And to recall that the dynamics of the Industrial Acceleration Plan has made it possible to exceed the employment objective of 2020 and to generate more than 122 billion dirhams (MMDH) in terms of exports between 2014 and 2021.
The Minister also highlighted recent industrial achievements at the national level, citing to this effect the design and manufacture of electric vehicles, the manufacture of buses and vehicle rims, as well as the manufacture of satellite and aeronautical parts, wind turbine blades and sanitary equipment.
Highlighting the profound changes the world is currently experiencing, the Minister pointed out that the national industry has proven to be resilient and agile to the Covid-19 health crisis.
” Morocco undoubtedly has one of the most attractive industrial platforms in the world, thanks to the Royal Guidelines, the stability of the Kingdom, its skills and the confidence of investors.he argued.
Organized as part of its annual cycle of conferences for business leaders and in partnership with Maroc-PME, the conference of the Association for Progress aims to be a place for debate, exchange and sharing around new orientations. industrial policy in Morocco.
