Morocco-Israel: Signing of an MoU in the aeronautical industry sector

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the aeronautical industry sector was signed, Wednesday in Rabat, between Morocco and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

Initialed by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IAI, Amir Peretz, this MoU is part of the implementation of the Joint Declaration between the Morocco and Israel, signed in December 2020 in Rabat. The two countries expressed in this Declaration their desire to promote dynamic and innovative bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of investment and technology.

As part of this partnership, Morocco and IAI have identified investment opportunities relating mainly to 3D printing, the manufacture of cabin interiors and engine and aerostructure parts, as well as the establishment of an R&D and engineering center and the development of a network of local suppliers through sourcing partnerships with IAI.

This MoU includes, for the Moroccan part, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry delegated to the Head of Government, in charge of Investment, Convergence and the Evaluation of public policies, and, for the Israeli side, the company Israel Aerospace Industries, represented by Amir Peretz, and its CEO, Boaz Levy.

Speaking on this occasion, Ryad Mezzour described this partnership as “strategic for both countries”insofar as “it opens the way to a win-win industrial collaboration in the aeronautics industry”.

“This partnership takes advantage of IAI’s expertise in the field of aviation and the technological capabilities of our aeronautical platform and its positioning as a growth driver for the development of investment in advanced industrial sectors and aeronautical services. »added the minister. And to emphasize that this agreement responds to national priorities to promote in particular advanced training, employment, local manufacturing, as well as R&D and innovation.

For his part, Amir Peretz, stressed that this memorandum of understanding is a further step in the creation of a new partnership between IAI and the aeronautics and space industries in Morocco.

And to support: “I know the incredible potential that exists in Morocco, and this is just the beginning. Together, we will build common teams that will turn our vision into reality.” “Today, I am filled with pride that my country, Israel, is getting closer to the country in which I was born, Morocco. I am proud that the two countries that make up my identity are moving forward together towards a better future”he said, adding that “In line with our mutual values, the friendship between our nations will continue to grow as we bring more cooperation and opportunities.”

For his part, Boaz Levy declared that the cooperation agreement signed between the IAI and Morocco is “another expression of the deep partnership between the two countries” which will help to promote joint and commercial projects in the aeronautical industry.

As part of its strategy, IAI is expanding its business into new markets and providing advanced technology solutions to customers around the world, he noted.

“We are proud to sign this agreement and believe this is a partnership that will lead to new joint developments and advance the global aviation industry”he rejoiced.

During its stay in Morocco, the IAI delegation visited, on Tuesday, the aeronautical pole of Nouaceur to learn about the achievements of the Moroccan aeronautical industry and its rise in competence, the investment potential in Morocco in the sector as well as as local development capacity in the maintenance and transformation of aircraft.

During this visit, the Israeli delegation also went to the Institute of Aeronautical Professions (IMA) where it was able to appreciate the competence and technicality of Moroccan talents.
